Umrah Packing Checklist: What Every Pilgrim Needs

Umrah Packing Checklist: What Every Pilgrim Needs

Ihram Essentials

For men, Ihram consists of two unstitched white cloths, along with a belt or pouch to secure travel documents and cash. It is wise to pack a spare set, since the fabric can shift or need changing during the trip.

Women wear their regular modest, loose-fitting clothing in any color, with a headscarf. Comfortable, breathable fabric is recommended given the warm climate.

Footwear and Comfort Items

Sandals that are easy to slip on and off are essential, since footwear must be removed before entering mosque areas. Many pilgrims also carry a small bag to hold their sandals while inside the Haram.

  • A small prayer mat or portable one for use outside the mosque.
  • A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated in the heat.
  • Unscented toiletries, since scented products are not permitted in Ihram.

Documents and Money

Keep passports, Umrah visa printouts, and hotel confirmations in a single travel pouch that stays with you at all times. It also helps to keep digital copies saved on your phone as a backup.

Health and Practical Extras

Pack any personal medication in its original packaging along with a doctor's note if needed. A basic first-aid kit with blister plasters, pain relief, and rehydration salts is useful given the amount of walking involved.
