Jabal al-Noor and the Cave of Hira
Located on the outskirts of Makkah, Jabal al-Noor holds the Cave of Hira, historically significant as the site where the first revelation is believed to have taken place. The climb takes around 45 minutes to an hour and is best attempted early in the morning to avoid the heat.
Jabal Thawr
This mountain, located south of Makkah, is another popular stop for those interested in early Islamic history. The hike is steeper than Jabal al-Noor, so it is generally recommended for visitors comfortable with more strenuous walking.
Jannat al-Mualla
This historic cemetery near the Haram is a quieter, reflective stop on most Ziyarat itineraries, and requires far less physical effort than the mountain sites.
